Till now you have an idea about Hayao Miyazaki and you might have heard about his not so famous statement that anime was a mistake.
So here we will tell you the real story that made him say this.
What Did Hayao Miyazaki Say?
The statement that “Anime was a Mistake” was a fun quote that was first heard in 2014 after the interview of Hayao Miyazaki at a Japanese news site.
He was not sure about the present state of the anime especially when a new era of anime was concerned.
What’s an Otaku?
The word Otaku describes a person who loves watching anime to a crazy extent or you can say as anime lunatic. these are people who join the conventions of anime and are linked to some clubs of anime and many other things similar to these.
Alternatively, okay in japan is known as a person who loves anime or some special series of anime or character. They are so preoccupied with animes that their everyday routine involves anime activities and they think about them for the whole time.
Oka can be any person who is preoccupied with anything like computer culture, pop culture, etc.
It has been originated from the Japanese word of “House” and describes a person who vacates in the home for the whole day or does not want to connect with reality. Therefore Miyazaki believes that new animators are not linking themselves to real-life and hence call them Okatu.
He uses anime films differently. He brings the real-life routine to the anime stories. He does this by concentrating and noticing the real-life people and then make a reality-based and true picture of anime movies.
In one of his interviews in 2014, he said that he loved to spend his time exploring and noticing people’s life and hence he makes anime that is relevant to real-life structure.
He believes that the main drawback and issue with the new era anime makers and okay filled industries is that they don’t adopt change and do not work to develop. He thinks that if someone wants to make convincing characters and enticing stories then one must gain experience by observing many different people of real life.
So it’s a phrase that is was taken in wrong sense that anime was a mistake rather he meant was to make animes that are related to real-life routines and not become okay.
Below are some of his statements he has said:
Hayao Miyazaki Famous Quotes
“Success? I do believe in the power of the story. I believe that stories have an important role to play in the formation of human beings, that they can stimulate, amaze and inspire their listeners.”
“You must see with eyes unclouded by hate. See the good in that which is evil, and the evil in that which is good. Pledge yourself to neither side, but vow instead to preserve the balance that exists between the two.”
